Kalonzo Tears Into President Ruto's Parliament Speech: "It Was The Shortest In History."

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka criticized President William Ruto's inaugural speech, calling it the shortest ever delivered before members of the two Houses in Kenyan history, during a joint session of the Parliament and Senate on Thursday.

Speaking on Friday at the Wiper Command Centre in Nairobi, Kalonzo pointed out that the speech skipped over important fiscal issues that are currently affecting the nation's economy, which he believes may indicate that Ruto's administration will find it difficult to fulfill the commitments the lead singer of the Kenya Kwanza band made while running for president.

The shortest address a sitting president has ever given to the House was given by President Ruto. It did not address the important concerns pertaining to our economy and the level of living in the country, according to Musyoka, who was flanked by MPs and Wiper leaders.

Now, we must remind them of their campaign commitments. Words are less powerful than deeds. Promises made one after another are never acceptable.

The Wiper boss believes that issues including the high cost of living, fuel, and power should have taken center stage in President Ruto's speech.

"We believe that these issues ought to take precedence in the early going, just as there was a rush to subsidize fertilizers on September 19, 2022. The rapidly rising cost of living should have received priority attention with the same urgency."

He also weighed in on Ruto's assertion that he won the presidency without the support of previous president Uhuru Kenyatta, which was made in his address.

President Ruto went so far as to designate himself as the official opposition leader and Raila Odinga as the State's preferred candidate in the days preceding the election on August 9th.

"Ruto remained the DP in 2022. He could have began by declaring that he had to leave when the circumstances grew intolerable if he wanted us to believe the mockery he attempted to heap upon President Kenyatta yesterday "Musyoka remarked.

"For a leader who wants to be held responsible for their ideals, that is the most natural thing to do. Consequently, Kenyans must recognize that this is an extension of what President Ruto and Kenyatta began in 2013. I would counsel President Ruto to be respectful of a person who has lawfully delegated authority to him."
