The present administration's position on the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) has been clarified by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has debunked suggestions that it will be abandoned.

Speaking to a crowd in Kisumu on Friday, the DP disclosed that the task group, which is presently being constituted, will be looking for suggestions on how to improve CBC so as to benefit all industry participants and enable the complete development of students.

"Please don't only criticize at home or at market centers when that team is presented and will be touring the nation... Please show up and share your opinions with these individuals about what you believe needs to be done to enhance CBC and the entire educational system, Gachagua said.

Along with a number of other leaders, the DP reaffirmed the government's commitment to developing the performing arts industry, which he claimed could be used to create jobs for young people and highlight appealing aspects of Kenyan culture.

He promised that "very soon we will launch a program on how to harness the genius and creativity of our people and gently, gradually transform it into a source of income and our contribution to our GDP."

The DP seemed to embrace his well-known moniker "Riggy G" in his speech at the 94th Kenya National Music Festival, but in a humorous way.

Even I am surprised that our creative young people have given me a moniker, he remarked, adding that "our young people are quite imaginative."

They considered my two names, Rigathi and Gachagua, searched for something simpler and more melodious, and referred to me as "Riggy G." It is not an awful name, in my opinion.
